Improvements in the Nist Calibration Service for Thermal Transfer Standards

چکیده
We report on multiple improvements made in the calibration services offered for thermal converters and thermal transfer standards in the ac-dc Difference Standards and Measurement Techniques Project at NIST during the past year. The major improvement in this calibration is the increased efficiency made possible by the consolidation of three disparate calibration services – low voltage thermal transfer standards, lowfrequency thermal converters, and RF-dc difference calibrations – into a single service. This consolidation has the immediate benefit of offering NIST calibration customers one source for ac-dc calibrations from 2 mV to 1000 V and from 10 Hz to 1 GHz. Additional benefits include lower calibration prices and reduced uncertainties at many points.

Extension of the NIST AC-DC Difference Calibration Service for Current to 100 kHz
The NIST calibration service for ac-dc difference of thermal current converters relies on multijunction thermal converters as the primary standards, and various thermal converters and thermoelements (TEs) as the reference and working standards. Calibrations are performed by comparing the ac-dc difference of a customer's thermal current converter to the ac-dc difference of a NIST standard curren...

This document describes the procedures used at NIST to calibrate dc voltage standards in terms of the NIST volt. Three calibration services are offered by the Electricity Division: Regular Calibration Service (RCS) of client standard cells at NIST; the Volt Transfer Program (VTP) a process to determine the difference between the NIST volt and the volt as maintained by a group of standard cells ...

Influencing the "injection barriers" into prototype molecular wires through metal-molecule Context: Many NIST customers using our vacuum calibration services spanning the pressure range from 0.65 Pa to 133 kPa (5 millitorr to 1000 torr) desire direct traceability to NIST but cannot justify the cost of calibration against relative to the NIST NIST Ultrasonic Interferometer Manometers (UIMs). The...
متن کاملThe 1990 NIST Scales of Thermal Radiometry
Following an absolute NIST measurement of the freezing temperature of gold and the adoption of the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90), NIST has adopted new measurement scales for the calibration services based on thermal radiometry. In this paper, the new scales are defined and compared to the ITS-90, and the effects of the scale changes on NIST measurement services in optical pyr...
متن کاملA Summary of Lightpipe Radiation Thermometry Research at NIST
During the last 10 years, research in light-pipe radiation thermometry has significantly reduced the uncertainties for temperature measurements in semiconductor processing. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has improved the calibration of lightpipe radiation thermometers (LPRTs), the characterization procedures for LPRTs, the in situ calibration of LPRTs using thin-film ...
